The URBAN CARPET is part of the KingsXperience, a project conceived
and initiated by leit-werk org and born out of the ambition to contribute
to the largest urban development to date – King’s Cross
Central. The concept proposes a temporary and flexible “Communication
Line”, which aims to provide information to the public during
the construction process. The interventions and communication devices
of the line consequently attract people to see, play, experience and
learn.
The URBAN CARPET conveys the size and existing layout of the site,
whilst at the same time offering adults and children the chance to
play hopscotch. It takes people by surprise and provoks spontaneous
discussions and reaction.
